This novel was so very far superior that the first. This author has certainly blossomed.

The characters are realistic and likable, the romance keeps on happening and high-school still sucks.

The story develops well, and the novel maintained a constant pace that kept me engrossed. I finished this in one sitting. That says it all, eh?

The only mild complaint I have is that the 'baddy' was always going to be the baddy, and I would have preferred that this was more of a guessing game.

So, all said, I'm definitely waiting on the next novel.

What away to continue the series!!!! I was on the edge of my seat, OK it was my bed really, reading this book. Cassandra Larsen did a beautiful job continuing this story, which can be a difficult task for authors when writing the next book in a series, but she had no problems with this one ) She keeps you pulled in to the story with twist and turns that you do not see coming, a little humor thrown in here and there, and romance of course. I love how Cassandra leaves clues in the story to keep you involved with it and get you to try to piece together everything. It is like you know when you are watching a crime show and you are trying to figure out who the killer is before the main character(s) do.

Poor Em is just trying figure out who killed her mother for closure but nothing is ever easy. She is pressured in to things she does not quite understand and its quite difficult to trust people when you are just thrown in to this new world that you barley understand. I love how Em wont just take what her new coven"s says about were wolves, she wants to hear the werewolves side of the story also. Emerson does not make a whole lot of change in growth or personality wise but you got to remember this is a short time period when you start this book its only been about a week that has passed. But I do believe that she will grow immensely through this series for sure )

Em's trust is not the only one that gets put to the test but her new friends get put through the ringer also. Witch craft has its ways of being deceitful and truths and lies will be uncovered in this book that will have you begging for the next book to hurry up and come out.

and the plot thickens. emerson wants answers about her mom and her mysterious death. emerson convinces caiden to go with her to her moms hometown to find out answers and ends up breaking into her grandmothers house only to be attacked by werewolves....who happen to be witches worst enemy. just great...now they know about emerson and they will come for her. all of a sudden a new student shows up, Gray and he has his sights set on Em. she knows smtg is off about him but cant put her finger on it. caiden thinks they need to ask caroline for help. caroline suggest a blood bond, which will help get rid of their enemy and help Em with her powers. add to the drama, her father is attacked in their home and sent to hospital and with carolines help, Em finds out the werewolves attacked her father...now Em is hell bent on revenge and agrees to the blood bond. truths and secrets are revealed and those who Em thought she could trust arent as honest as they seem to be. Will it cost Emerson??
Hidden Gem ARC recommendation included the first two books in the series, but believe Shattered Circle would be great even as a Stand-a-lone novel. Cassandra Larsen did an excellent of moving Emerson’s story along with perfect timing with plenty of action. The revealation of critical information and long buried secrets were steadily filtered even through to the stunning conclusion of Shattered Circle. The unique, complex and multilayered characters with their individual idiosyncrasies wormed their way into your heart. This gifted storyteller knitted together a very “human” story of love, friendship, humor, grief, fear, magic, prejudice, politics, jealousy, betrayal, danger, and violence into a prophetic battle between witches and werewolves.
Always in Emerson’s corner, her friends and allies are not always as obvious, but even when some are being complete jerks, they can still be seen in an emphatic light. Really have enjoyed this whole series and am anxiously waiting for the next installment.
Love both of these books, can't wait to see what happens next.

Love this series. Cant wait for book 3. Hoping its real soon. This author really knows how too make her story come alive. Its amazing once i started the first book i couldn't put it down. Then book 2 again couldn't pity it down. This author rocks
