After losing her job and her tenuous grip on sanity, Erin Carter flees to Spain for a much needed break. There she meets the dashing doctor Santiago Botello, who makes her forget her troubles ... until a ghost warns her that falling for him could be dangerous.I really enjoyed the author's characterization of Erin Carter, who suffers from anxiety -- I can relate -- and must struggle to solve an ancient mystery while wondering if she's losing her mind. Set amidst the sensual and exotic locale of Spain, which I visited while reading this novel, I was able to completely immerse myself in this story and feel like I was part of the action. The author juxtaposes two time lines (modern day with the 15th century) with ease, and the paranormal element kept me on the edge of my seat. The chemistry between Erin and Santiago was immediate and believable, and the mystery/suspense elements kept me guessing right until the end. I highly recommend this book for lovers of tension-filled romantic paranormal suspense.

I have only read Kimberley Troutte’s military romantic suspense books so I was surprised by Catch Me in Castile. That would be pleasantly surprised. This story is also not a new book but one that has been published for a while; another surprise but again not a bad one.
This well-written book has so much going on such as exotic location vividly portrayed. It made me feel as if I had taken a mini-vacation to Spain. The characters were also well described with emotional depth. Their attraction and chemistry seemed very real. Most important, Catch me in Castile has a fresh unique feel. This ghostly story is not like any I have read, the danger feeling real and the suspense quite edge of the seat trying to figure it all out along with Erin, the main female character. .
If like me, you had not read Catch Me in Castile, I would recommend it especially if you like original paranormal romantic suspense that makes you think. Wonderful read.
The publisher/author gave me a complimentary ARC of the book.
I'm not usually a fan of this type of supernatural/paranormal romance, but I think this book is very well written and exceptional! Fast paced and taut with mystery, suspense and delightful sexual tension I read it in one sitting while I immersed myself in the beauty that is Spain. This is a dual time-period storyline that is rich with both cultural and geographical details of the picturesque and ancient town of Salamanca. The author did an amazing job of including dozens of words in Spanish and even went so far as to include authentic cuisine that added additional ethnic flavor that really enhanced my reading experience. I travelled to Spain when I was in high school and the added details and descriptions of life in Salamanca made me feel like I was traveling right next to Santiago and Erin, the hero and heroine of our story. Erin is a successful stock broker but her high risk job and a genetic component in her family history has her suffering from extreme and quite disorienting anxiety attacks. While she is having an attack she unwittingly connects with the spirit of a lovelorn nanny from the 1400's who haunts a local castle. As Erin and Santiago explore their romance and the mystery of a very unusual Santiago family curse Erin finds herself dodging danger at every turn that threatens their love and could very well be the death of her. I read a complimentary copy of this book and all opinions expressed in my voluntary review are completely my own.
Catch Me in Castile is more than a romance novel. The mystery and parallel story made it a book I could not put down!
Sometimes getting away from it all can be murder...
Erin Carter just wanted to get away from her nightmare of a life. After a personal crisis at work costs her a promotion, all she wants to do is lick her wounds and reexamine her life. A friend invites her to a picturesque refuge in Spain, which proves to be anything but a safe haven. Her best friend is hiding something, a beautiful-but-tragic 15th-century ghost won't leave her alone, and her budding romance with a handsome surgeon - with secrets of his own - makes her wonder if she's bitten off more than she can chew...
This is a darkdarkDARK psychological thriller with twists and turns to keep you reading. It's not a comfortable read, but makes you wonder and shiver to the end. You can't assume anything with this book - and the ending was a surprise I didn't see coming. Not my usual fare, but I really enjoyed it. I really was cheering for Erin's HEA. I highly recommend this book - but read it with a light on!
